AGLAIA GmbH
CLEPA Logo As a competent development associate of the automobile industry and its suppliers, the firm Aglaia GmbH, founded in 1998, develops and markets special visual sensor systems for the automobile sector.
Our aim is to provide product solutions for systems to "assist the driver," "prevent accidents" and "improve traffic flow". The characteristics of human vision have been reproduced in the form of an "electronic eye" using a combined hardware and software system solution.
During this time we have created our own very effective software solutions for the implementation of such projects, including methods relating to quality assurance and progress checks on the developmental work. Our developments comprise of not only algorithmics and software, but also of system and imaging sensor technology.
The computerized aspects of our prototype solutions are based on the use of PC technology. This allows considerably shorter cycle times between development and testing in comparison to more complex and specialized hardware structures, with the added bonus of minimum costs. T his concept makes it possible for us to exploit the market quickly with small and medium volumes.
We create extremely inexpensive systems for series production by the use of special hardware approaches based on circuits available to the mass market.
A wide range of skills has been acquired in the fields of software, hardware and system development - including the implementation of series products - and a highly competent and motivated development team built up with over 30 members.
The results of our development work in the form of prototypes and products create the basis for the rapid development of our own series products which are ready for the market. Here we can build on:
prototypes and series developments for various driver assistance systems;  the development, monitoring and test system "Cassandra®"; and FireWire cameras and camera systems with an extended dynamic range.

First Sensor Technology GmbH
FST First Sensor Technology GmbH (or FST) serves a wide variety of high-volume markets, from automotive suppliers and white appliances through medical engineering and aerospace to process and automation technology. The company develops and produces pressure sensors to operate at normal to high temperatures. FST is capable of manufacturing quantities in the double-digit million range each year and able to develop customer specific solutions. Furthermore it produces sensors also for low and medium volume markets.
The company has focused on producing innovative normal-temperature pressure sensors for operating temperatures up to 125 °C and high-temperature pressure sensors for up to 225°C. In addition to its sensor chip series, FST develops pressure sensor systems, like the new K series, a versatile product for use in process engineering.
In 2005, FST plans to expand its production capacity in Germany, intensify development of pressure sensors for harsh environments and high temperature by using a complete new sensor construction for automotive applications.
First Sensor Technology started up in 1999 as a spin-off of the Technical University of Berlin. Prominent investors in the enterprise include Deutsche Venture Capital, IKB Private Equity GmbH, Siemens Venture Capital and enjoyventure Management GmbH. The company's headquarters, where administration, development and production are based, are located in Adlershof, Berlin. FST currently employs more than 30 persons.
IBEO GmbH
IBEO Logo Ibeo Automobile Sensor GmbH, subsidiary of SICK AG, itself the world market leader in laser sensors, was founded by managing director Dr. Lages in 1998 with the aim of developing the laser scanner for use as a sensor system in cars. Ibeo now has 22 employees dedicated exclusively to the development of laser scanner technology and the algorithms needed to recognise environments. The Ibeo laser scanner is the first sensor to enable several applications to be undertaken by one device: automatic emergency braking, ACC Stop&Go, PreCrash, traffic jam assistant, pedestrian protection and lane-change assistant. Ibeo laser sensors remain highly precise and reliable even in very bad weather conditions.
They can also be manufactured very economically and in a way which means they use a minimum of space. Series development will begin in 2006, and by 2008 we can expect a finished product in the series production of vehicles.
