- The OFFIS Institute for Information Technology is located in the north west of Germany. OFFIS receives a basic funding by the government of Lower Saxony, but more than 75% of the annual turnover (of approx. 12 Mio Euro in 2008) is from research and development projects funded by public programs (BMBF, EU) and by direct contracts with industry. OFFIS employs more than 230 people working in 3 R&D divisions: Health, Energy and Transportation.
The R&D Division Transportation focuses its activities on the development processes of electronic components for safety critical traffic-related systems. The work is performed in 6 R&D groups working on different aspects: Human Centered Design (HCD), Safety Analysis and Verification (SAV), E/E Architecture Analysis & Design (EEA), HW/SW Design Methodology (HDM), Cooperative Mobile Systems (CMS) and Process Analysis & Optimization (PAO).
